My friend Vanessa has started a blog with her teaching partner-in-crime, Kate. It offers everyday fashion and styling advice in the form of inspiring and fun mood boards. Here’s the one she made titled “Inspired by the Rain and Lynn Fisher” and features my favorite clothing item: the hoodie. Check out their blog for more details and easily put-together looks.

SWBAT Look On Point

American Idol 9 - Top 24

This season of American Idol is pretty good so far. This next round is my favorite part of the competition. Here are my 5 favorites as of now. I’m sure it will change several times as people prove they do or do not suck.

Katie Stevens, Crystal Bowersox, Didi Benami, Andrew Garcia, Alex Lambert

Oscar Wilde

“It is not uncommon to commiserate with a stranger’s misfortune, but it takes a really fine nature to appreciate a friend's success.”

Percy Jackson

Percy Jackson

Last night we went to see Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightening Thief and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Not only do I have a special place in my heart for Greek mythology, I especially love modern interpretations of the stories. The movie was fun and had a lot of talented actors in the cast. Sean Bean, Kevin McKidd, and Steve Coogan played Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades respectively. Rosario Dawson played a sassy Persephone and Uma Thurman did a great job as Medusa.

The only problem I had with the film (and I’m pretty sure it’s more of a beef with the author of the book) was that Zeus was missing his lightening bolt and not his properly accurate _thunder_bolt. Even Disney’s Hercules got it right. Other than this whiny criticism of the film/book, I really liked it and recommend that everyone see it!
