Boomer

It’s been a week since we adopted our dog Boomer from the Humane Society. She’s starting to feel comfortable in our house and we love having her here. She needs some obedience training, but is such a sweetheart. Boomer is half whippet, half rat terrier and very fast!

Extract and Fantastic Mr. Fox

Yesterday I saw Extract, Mike Judge’s new film starring Jason Bateman. It was pretty funny and had some memorable lines, but wasn’t anything to write home about. One of the previews before the movie was Fantastic Mr. Fox, a Wes Anderson film based on the Roald Dahl book. This is a movie I am very excited about. Not only do I love this book, but the film looks witty, whimsical, and distinctly Wes Anderson.

Funnies

Clay: “What is a lizard that changes its color?” Lynn: “A wizard that changes color? Gandalf right? He changed from grey to white.”

Paper Heart

Charlyne YiMichael Cera and CharlyneCharlyne with Jake Johnson

Yesterday we went to see Paper Heart at Camelview. I had pretty high expectations for this movie and I am glad to say I loved it. Charlyne Yi plays a fictionalized version of herself, heading across the country to learn about love. The relationships in the movie are endearing and real, especially the friendship between Charlyne and director Nick Jasenovec. The best parts of the film are the love stories depicted through paper cutouts and puppets. The dialogue is hilarious and Charlyne and Michael’s awkward relationship makes for a sweet and entertaining film.

Plus, she is my doppelganger.
