Pitch Perfect

This weekend I saw the Pitch Perfect trailer for the first time. I think I may have audibly squealed in the movie theatre. A movie about battling a capella groups featuring the charming Anna Kendrick? It’s like the movie gods are answering my prayers. But seriously, I love a good sing-off. Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit and Glee are two of my favorites and I can’t wait to add this one to the list!

Paintstagram

With my efforts to paint more frequently and at smaller scale, I came up with the idea to make painted versions of people’s Instagram photos. We are capturing more and more with this fun little app, and the square format and recognizable filters make for equally fun little paintings. For my friend Kate’s birthday, I decided to to paint her a 6" x 6" of her Instagram pic of her family’s farm. I think it turned out pretty neat and I can’t wait to paint more of them!

Custom Vinyl Decals

For my birthday this year, my in-laws generously gifted me with a Silhouette CAMEO electronic cutting tool. I’ve been wishing for one for a long time and I’m super excited to start cutting all the things!

Silhouette CAMEO

For my first project, I decided to start small. We had some large plastic bottles lying around, so I thought some custom labels would be fun. I threw together some quick labels in their editor, which was pretty easy to use for simple designs.

After the CAMEO cut the self-stick vinyl, I transferred the vinyl to the transfer paper and then transferred them to the bottles.

The labels didn’t adhere as quickly as I’d hoped, but after some time, it’s looking good. I’m not sure how the steam of the shower will affect the labels, but for now, I’m super happy!
